Aussie Rules UK and Teaching Personnel have joined forces to introduce Australian Football to schools throughout London.
The program is called Aussie Rules Schools and has been such a success that already one London school has dropped soccer from its curriculum and replaced it with Aussie Rules.
Aussie Rules UK was established in London in April 2005 and is supported by both Sport England and the UK Minister of Sport. Its major aim in introducing Aussie Rules to UK schools is to use its novelty appeal and focus on participation and fun to help reduce the growing rate of childhood obesity.
Teaching Personnel has sponsored Aussie Rules UK in recognition of the huge value that Australian teachers bring to UK schools and pupils. Client schools of Teaching Personnel are repeatedly impressed with the enthusiasm and attitude exhibited by Australian supply teachers.
Teaching Personnel wish to positively support the benefits that association with the Australian culture can yield here in England. They have therefore decided to support Aussie Rules UK in bringing Australian football into UK schools, and along with this sport, enhanced contact with Australian attitudes.
